Corona takes off in her Ultrasaucer guided
by the butterfly spectrometer. For a demonstration, play
the video (248 K, Quicktime) or listen to the super-hero
theme song (2.9 MB, mp3) written and performed by Zachary
Smith. If you have trouble with the mp3, you can always go
ultra lo-fi.
(Those of you unfamiliar with the Ultrasaucer
technology might want to review
the specifications.) |

The arrival of Corona Madeleine Smith! The
luminous ring herself was delivered on April 18th at 8:01AM weighing
7lbs 10ozs.
Here she is sunning herself by the window to cure
her newborn
jaundice. |

Waiting for the arrival of Corona Madeleine Smith.
I took this photo as visual research for a printmaking
project in my Art as Process class
at SMFA which I highly recommend. The SMFA site is pretty nice
also. |

I've moved to Boston! The photo is the view from
my new office on a rather gray day this spring. You can't really
make it out, but behind those 17th century gravestones are daffodils.
I've also updated my Portfolio with
a new icon set and a screenshot of my one of my favorite clients,
Snapfish. |

My most recent project, File
Under {M}, is a small design shop started with the marvelous Mirjana
Risek.
As usual, you can still find my past work
in Portfolio.
In Resources,
you'll still find the same useful collection of links, guides,
and tools. Sadly there is nothing new in Trips although
I did drive across the country this summer and have some plans
for the mpegs I took of the road.

Spring in San Francisco!
The new Hungry Minds site just launched.
You can see the design in Portfolio.
The photo to the right is from my trip to
Japan last spring--in Trips.
The food displays are wonderful and plastic and otherworldly.
In Resources,
you'll find a very small collection of links, guides, and tools.
I recently updated my bookmark list with new spring links like
the hanami screensaver.

Happy New Year!
I am resolved to to complete at least some
of my half-finished personal projects this year--such as the Goreyesque
Alphabet Book of Cats, previewed in my Portfolio.
Of course, you may not be here for illustrations
of cats or screenshots of websites. You may instead want to see
my photos of China--this month being the Chinese New Year --in
Trips. |

What's new?
I just put up my guide to Paris in Resources.
There are pictures of Paris (and more recent adventures) in Trips.
I took a job last month at Hungry Minds
as the creative director working on the site redesign. Soon, I
should have something to add to my Portfolio.
I'm working on my millennial plans, but
so far have only figured out that it includes burning things, a
victrola, and a ball gown. |

The image right is the lid of a 1940's cigarette case made in Japan.
(I'm working on a gallery of past homepage images.) For more images of
my recent trip to Asia see Trips.
I'm always looking for interesting projects
to work on. Take a look at my resume and my Portfolio. |

I'm off to Asia next month. I'll be back sometime around the end of June
when you can look for more photos in Trips.
(I took the photo on the right in Shanghai in 1995.) You can still send
me email @sirius.com.
Otherwise, not much is new here. Portfolio needs
to be updated with my last project for American Century which is
going live in March.
In Resources,
you can find it in my web palette which organizes the 216 web-safe
colors by hue, saturation, and brightness. Be sure to watch the
srbg palette conversion in Photoshop 5. |

I just polished up the Portfolio section.
I'm looking for a Super 8 viewer to finish
my Tobit movie (see right). Let me know if you have any leads.
Looking for that perfect shade of red? This
web palette organizes the 216 web-safe colors by hue, saturation,
and brightness. |

The beginnings of my new site are up but
not quite all there. I'm off to Paris until September 15th so I
might add something to the trips section when I get back. I will
be checking email but I plan to spend most of the time hanging
out in cafes reading, sketching and drinking coffee. Hey wait,
that's what I do here. OK maybe I'll be hanging out in museums
and taking the trains to the coast and to Barcelona to see some
Gaudi.
