PowerSight was designed for PG&E Energy Services
to allow commercial customers to track energy usage and manage billing.
Given this audience base, it was designed as a java application.
I worked with Drue Miller who was the
primary information/interaction designer while I worked primarily on the
branding and visual design. As usual, we collaborated on most of the design.
The new logo refers to the parent PG&E logo in its color and shape
while introducing a new product with new attributes.
The biggest feature of the application was the ability
to create custom graphs of energy usage. These graphs could be saved
as templates to track the same dataset over time. Clicking on the bottom "Change
Data and Display" allowed users to manipulate the graph as seen
in the next image.
This last image shows the toolbar used to manipulate
the graphs and reports. Its written in natural language to help the user
think about the different variables.
